Threats & Challenges

A Fragile Balance

Despite its ecological importance, the Park is subject to numerous pressures:

  •   ✓ ✓ Poaching of protected species (manatees; turtles)
  •   ✓ ✓ Deforestation of mangroves for charcoal production
  •   ✓ ✓ Water pollution (plastic waste, hydrocarbons)
  •   ✓ ✓ Urbanization and illegal construction
  •   ✓ Climate Change and Rising Sea Levels

Our mission is to raise awareness, protect and restore these natural environments, in collaboration with local communities.
